Nourishing the Writer’s Spirit Retreat

Are you feeling stuck?

In a rut?

Tired?

Wishing you had the space and freedom to pursue your writing?

Overwhelmed?

I know those feelings!

I understand what it means to be a writer. Gifted in arranging words and creating stories, writers have a unique spirit within them. While not all writers see themselves as having a deeper emotional capacity, the energy it takes to bring stories to life and take characters on their journeys requires a reserve that most don’t understand. Unfortunately, most writers don’t have the ability to escape to their own world, where they can just do their writer things and not worry about anything else. They have families, jobs, commitments, and other real world activities that take away from the energy needed to write.

That’s not to say the world is bad. After all, where else would writers get their ideas? How else would writers bring the pages to life in such fantastic detail?

But sometimes writers need a break. They need to get away and recharge. They need to take the time to refill the well and nourish the spirit that makes their words so great.

Hi, I’m Danica Favorite, and I know what it’s like to be a writer in our busy world. More importantly, I know what it’s like to be so exhausted from all the demands of life that the words just don’t come like they used to. I know what it feels like to stare at the contract in my hands and say, “is that it? Everything I’ve worked for all these years?”

I was burnt out. Weary. Tired of the pressures and demands of life and trying to be true to my calling as a writer.

I watched friends, who used to be amazing prolific authors, fall off the face of the earth because they simply couldn’t take it anymore. Favorite authors whose wells had run dry.

And then I discovered the secret
… that taking care of me and refilling my well was the most important gift I could give myself as a writer. Just as important, it was a gift I could give my family, my friends, my work, and my readers. You see, when I’m empty, giving out of that emptiness, I am less effective in everything I do, especially in my writing.

The cliché of being on an airplane and putting on your oxygen mask before helping others is a cliché because it’s true. We can’t help anyone if we don’t first take care of ourselves.

Which is what this retreat is all about.
